Wet Molding ≠ Steam Molding ≠ Dry Molding
Steam Molding is a hybrid fiber-molding process that makes impulse drying controllable, repeatable, and scalable.
By combining volumetric dosing with innovative printed steel tooling, the core technologies unlocks the conditions needed to harness steam impulses for rapid water removal from the fiber network.
The result is higher productivity, sharper product detail, and consistent quality – positioning molded fiber as a scalable and cost-competitive alternative for demanding packaging applications.
How CSM Works | Key Process Steps

01
Additive Manufactured molds with engineered porosity, high durability and superior dimensional stability, are placed into the dosing station.

02
Fiber slurry is metered and dosed into each porous mold. Differential pressure then distributes the fibers across the mold surface to achieve the desired formation.

03
Direct-heated molds flash surface water into steam, creating a pressure impulse, driving moisture out of the micro-channels. Consecutive calibration steps define surface finish, dimensional accuracy, and final part consistency.

04
An optional integrated press can be configured for final detailing and trimming, delivering clean, application-ready molded parts for downstream processes such as labeling, sealing, printing, and filling.

05
Before the next dosing cycle, recovered process water is used to clean the molds, supporting repeatable production and high OEE without unnecessary cleaning-related downtime.
